SEGMENTATION BASED ON ENHANCED MORPHOLOGICAL WATERSHED ALGORITHM

Medical imaging and analysis, one of the predominant fields in medical industry, is the art of using automated techniques to manipulate an image. The techniques of medical image concentrate on improving the quality of an image and extracting useful information from the image for better understanding. Image segmentation and enhancement is one of the central research themes in medical image analysis and with the increasing number of imaging analysis and imaging studies, the necessity for automated medical image segmentation methods are expanding. The present research work focus on segmentation that combines neural network with Watershed algorithm modified to use automatic optimal threshold selection algorithm. The problem of oversegmentation is solved by using preprocessing technique. Experimental results prove that the proposed method is efficient in segmenting medical images
