Satellite images are being used in many fields of research. Resolution is the major issues of these types of images. Resolution Enhancement (RE) schemes suffer from the drawback of losing high frequency contents. A wavelet-domain approach based on Dual-Tree Complex Wavelet Transform (DT-CWT) and Nonlocal Means (NLM) is proposed for RE of the satellite images. In this method, Multilevel Dual-Tree Complex Wavelet Transform (DT-CWT) is used for decomposing the satellite images. Input image is decomposed by Multilevel DT-CWT to get more no of high-frequency sub bands. The high-frequency sub bands and the Low-Resolution (LR) input image are interpolated using the Bilinear interpolator. The high-frequency sub-bands are passed through an NLM filter to cater for the artifacts generated by Multilevel DT-CWT Then the filtered high-frequency sub bands and the LR input image are combined using inverse DT-CWT to obtain a Super resolved high Resolution image.
